I believe that many parents let go of the reins when their children were little, part of the "everyone's a winner" theory of parenting. Their attempts to regain control at a time in a child's life when they are supposed to be spreading their wings are met with sulleness and behaviors. <br /><br />Children thrive on structure and you provide structur for students. Sure they are going to complain, but keep it up. You locked my son out after break one day. He got mad. I bought him a watch. You're still his favorite teacher.
